DEMON

Warning

All prospective players should note that Demon has been geared towards the more mature gamer and it is likely to contain many of the darker sides of human (and non-human) nature.  If you are likely to be offended by descriptions of violence, sex, depravity and the like I would like to suggest that this may not be the game for you.
I am not setting out to shock anyone and I want everyone to be very aware of the nature of Demon.

Demon is a role playing game that has been around for a number of years now.  Once it was run on a professional basis, but now it is a free system for a select few players.  Anyone interested in playing should create a character with the information that they can find in here and send it, along with as detailed a background as possible, to Demon@icon.f9.co.uk  Remember, there are only a few places available so make that background interesting if you are seriously wanting to play.

You are about to enter a realm of Magic and Wars, a land of noble Lords and terrible tyrants, a world of the human and inhuman.  Demon is a fantasy based game but with a difference.  It is harsher, more violent and bleaker than other fantasy games that you can play in and that is why this system is recommended for MATURE GAMERS ONLY.

If you have never played in a PBeM (Play-By-eMail) before you are in for a pleasant surprise.  PBeM allows you to control the actions of a character in a strange, new world.  It allows you to risk life, limb and sanity without ever leaving the comfort of your home.  It allows you to interact with other gamers all across the country and even the world without ever meeting them face to face unless, of course, you want to.

Generating your character is a simple matter and can be done in a matter of minutes, but the more time and effort you put into creating your alter-ego, the more enjoyment you will get out of the game.  You decide how your character looks, how they act, what their background is and what their goals and ambitions are.  Once you have done this, you send your completed character sheet and notes to me and I will place your character into the game.

After this, it is completely up to you what your character does and how they act.  Perhaps your character is going to be a good and noble hero who strives for the benefit of all mankind or maybe they will be a selfish, cold-hearted sorcerer who struggles constantly for more power?  Perhaps it is your character’s desire to search through all the Planes of the Multiverse or maybe you want to summon and command the deadly Demons that only the most powerful of Mages can control?  The choice is yours.

Every time you send your characters actions to me, I will interpret them and let you know how things have worked out for them.  The information I send back to you will contain at least  two A4 pages of typed text and possibly much more.  You will gain information and knowledge as you play and this will lead to your character growing in strength and power.  This is shown in experience points which I will award your character and you can use as you wish.

It is quite likely that your character will come across beings controlled by other players and then you can interact with them in any way you like.  But remember, all Mages are greedy for power and the greatest threat to any Mage is another Mage.  Make deals and form bonds by all means, but remember to watch your back at all times.  Never take anything or anyone at face value.

The longer you play, the more you will discover about the world and the more powerful your character will become.  In time, your character might want to open an Academy of their own, they might try to form power factions and take control of one of the lands that makes up the nation of Shardar.  Perhaps you might even gain control of an entire Plane or, the dream of every true Mage, create a Plane of your own.

To prosper you must take chances but beware, death is an ever present companion for those who meddle in Magic.  Danger takes many forms; rival Mages, greedy bandits, evil Demons, denizens of strange and alien Planes, nervous superiors, ambitious subordinates!  Any one of these could see your character as a threat and try to remove them.  Fortune may favour the brave but death welcomes the foolhardy

However you imagine your character, I will ensure that their stay in Demon is never boring.  Exhilarating yes, dangerous and violent yes, but boring, no!

Good luck and may the Fates bring you all that you desire.
