RANGE Touch
CASTING COST 1 Spell Point
DURATION 1 Minute / Instantaneous
XP COST TO LEARN 20

Shatter is a Spell that is available only to those Mages who graduated from The Citadel – Storm’s Academy.  It is a very simple seeming Spell but can be put to many uses.

The Shatter Spell allows the casting Mage to destroy one, normal object that they touch within one minute of casting the Spell.  Normal objects include weapons, bottles, material, scrolls, even armour.  Any object that has been shattered in this fashion is not repairable through normal means although there are Spells that can recreate Shattered objects.

The casting Mage has to be able to physically touch the object that they wish to destroy and only one object can be affected per casting of the Spell.  This Spell is virtually useless when it is used upon Chain Mail armour.  One link would be destroyed but the rest of the armour would be unaffected.

Franco swallowed hard as he looked at the ring of unhappy peasants that surrounded him.
“Look,” he said.  “This really isn’t my fault.  I don’t see how you can blame me for this, I wasn’t to know!”
The growling crowd made no reply but the Mage could sense the atmosphere becoming more and more unfriendly
“Okay,” he admitted.  “Maybe it was my fault, but it was an honest mistake.  You can’t blame a person for making an honest mistake, can you?”
Again, he wasn’t answered and this time the crowd started to press in on him.
“Please,” Franco screamed.  “Can’t we talk about this?  It wasn’t my fault!”
As if on cue, the angry crowd surged forward and the Mage’s cries were abruptly cut off in a short scream.  A few moments later the crowd wandered away from the bleeding corpse of the young Mage.  No-one seemed to take any interest in the body, it was as though an unpleasant but necessary task had been performed.
“Damn Mages,” muttered one of the crowd.  “That’ll teach him to go about Shattering young girl’s dresses!”
