Sar'Donnath Military Units

The Pure
Feybane
The
Feybane view themselves as problem solvers, these problems are often living and
are dispatched through a mixture of careful planning and viscous combat. Their
bodies are marked with wards and runes to protect them from the Fey's powers.
Fast moving and silent the Feybane live up to their name and they often make
elaborate traps to capture their prey.
If Feybane is not moving in its
usually asleep (They are almost the exact opposite of the StillWalkers) but this
does not effect their ability to sense changes in the immediate area. In the
field if battle Feybane are dispersed in units of Blessed and Calmed, to charge
out of the battle lines to take out magic users and other special creatures that
are threatening the House Troops. As a rule Feybane do not get along with StillWalkers,
but as all units are loyal to the house this is expressed through a slightly
mocking attitude rather then any actual hostile actions.

Stormwards
Extremely heavily armoured troops. Fast hulking suits of armour carved with
strange shapes and designs to invoke fear in their opponents. The Stormwards are
named because it is rumoured that the only thing that can harm them is
lightning, also the name stems from the noise they make as they charge into
battle. The Stormwards were completely destroyed when Sar'Donnath made their
escape, They charged the main Elven warhost and reaped a terrible toll before
the last of these iron clad giants fell.
Stormwards
tend to be large and burly for elves, and take extra special care when donning
their armour. Everything must be in the right place and correctly aligned before
they will charge into battle, this often means that they are the last to enter
the fray in the event of a surprise attack although they often swing the tide of
such conflicts when they to commence combat.

The
Touched
The Touched are a tragic collection of elves who have been effected by the void
as a result of experiments to free the dark fey princes. All of the Touched will
have a focus, something that they will protect and will become completely
enraged if anything acts towards their focus in an even slightly hostile manner
or in some cases slight rudeness. They will fight with an unnatural fury unable
to rest until their target has been rendered limb from limb. After the lifeless
body has fallen to the ground and the threat removed the Touched will calm down
and not remember a single moment of the rage that over took them. Few Touched
ever realise what they truly are.
StillWalkers
Elves whom have sacrificed a part of their soul to forgo the need for sleep. The
StillWalkers have a vapid look, due to the constant state of near exhaustion,
but this look belays their constant state of awareness, like a snake they are
always ready to strike. Wearing almost no armour, and very little clothes and
they tend to fight with fast striking weapons. The StillWalkers are used to
relay communication, due to the lack of a need for rest. StillWalkers are quiet
are reserved normally, not wanting to waist energy on speaking unless it is
required.
The StillWalkers
work for the Sul’Kath and are often referred to the ‘Teeth of the
Sul’Kath’ As a group StillWalkers are very secretive and insular, preferring
to company of their own kind. Most of the senior StillWalkers report only to the
royal members of the House and are often viewed with an element of distrust by
the Blessed as rumours float around of them being part of an internal security
force.

Mortellan
So close to being dead these poor elves are often mistaken for the restless
dead. But these elves are close to death, and not wishing to die a dishonourable
death in their beds they charge into battle seeking a good death. However the
wish of an honourable 'death' is so strong that some of the Mortellan are
missing whole limbs and often, large tracts of flesh. The Mortellan will not
cease and move on into another realm until they have killed just one more foe.
Little
is known of this sect of the House, or even if they still exist, most have been
destroyed in battle and the few they may have survived will have surely crumbled
away by now…
The
Blessed and Calmed
The Blessed and the Calmed are the main troops of the House, they are by far the
most versatile unit. The wear a wide variety of armour and fight with a mix of
different weapons. Most of the troops fight with a bladed weapon and a shield.
All of the troops within the House are required to serve at least a year in the
Blessed, where they attain the rank of Calmed. At any given time up to a third
of soldiers in a unit will be the Blessed under the tuition of the more
experienced Calmed.
Lordel'Mahr used his little influence
in this realm to sway a few 'Lesser' Fey (Good) into blessing these elves to
help them with their 'performances' the Elven King decreed that this was good
and also added his blessing and powers to increase the beauty of the actions of
these units. However when his guard met them in combat he cursed the day that he
helped create the Blessed.
The
magic bound into the souls of these elf causes them to move with a ghostly grace
and terrible purpose.
The Bound
Stayaidkyn
A Binding of a soldier/priest with a magical standing stone. These evil
creatures have three forms: Elven with rough grey skin. A form that closely
resembles a stone golem and the original shape of the stone. The Stayaidkyn work
with the High priestess and form part of her inner circle of advisors. As the
binding with the stone is an extremely painful process and has the benefit of
almost halting the ageing process the Stayaidkyn tend to be older elves. However
the binding also causes a great amount of pain so the Stayaidkyn tend to be
slightly unstable, but this does not stop them from being sneaky and performing
some of the most horrific ambushes the world has ever seen. The effects of the
binding also provide the Stayaidkyn with massive amounts of armour and means
they can turn aside a normal blade and absorb crushing hammer blows with ease.
Saraphin
Kienar once saw a picture of an angel in a Elven tapestry, pleased by its look
and with thoughts of the mayhem it could cause Kienar bound some of the house
guard with birds of pray and other large flying beasts. The resulting creation
became one of the most feared of the Sar'Donnath Troops in the outlying lands,
they would dive from the heavens and prey on the peasantry, Kienar found this
amusing.
The Saraphin are probably the most
insular Sar'Donnath units, tending not to mix with others who they feel sorry
for, because they lack the gift of flight. The StillWalkers seem open and
inviting compared to these soldiers. They still follow orders, and are used to
great effect as assault troops attacking war machines and command groups before
disappearing into the clouds. The Tapestry that inspired the Saraphin was stolen
before House Sar'Donnath was cast away and is now revered by the Saraphin, it
has changed however and is no-longer a representation of the beauty of an angel,
it is not something far more evil...
The
Chilled
These are the result of a binding of a coldone and an
elf. The House mages were forced to perform this binding so that the precious
Cold Ones would not be all killed in the stables as the Elven King had ordered,
sensing that these evil creatures could serve no benign purpose. The binding of
the two forms is far simpler then the Stayaidkyn and less painful (although
still not pleasant in anyway) so the Chilled are more stable and only have two
forms, although the Elven for does show traces of the secret that these elves
hold. The binding also benefits the Chilled with thicker then normal skill,
acting as leather armour. The Chilled in combination with a rider is awesome
troops and has stormed shield walls of crack troops riding down the soldiers
like raging tide.
The
chilled have a second class, known as the greater chilled, are a result of a
binding of a great Elven warrior mage/priest with a Bull Coldone, they have
thicker skin, are larger and have prominent ridges and fins. They are the Elite
of the chilled however they were the first to feel the magic of the Elven king
in battle, as he knew the damage they would cause so they are presumed
destroyed.
